Developer Certificate Request is a utility from Symbian Software Ltd designed to help developers obtain and manage developer certificates used to sign Symbian OS applications. It streamlines the creation of certificate signing requests (CSRs) and associated keys, enabling secure testing and controlled use of protected APIs on real devices through the Symbian Signed program.

Key features:

  • Guided CSR generation with built-in checks for common input errors
  • Automatic creation of a private key and CSR for submission to Symbian Signed
  • Support for adding multiple device identifiers (IMEIs) and application UIDs
  • Capability selection to request only the permissions your app needs
  • Project-based saving to reuse settings across multiple requests
  • Output compatible with standard Symbian signing tools (for example, SignSIS)

Typical workflow:

  1. Enter developer and organization details.
  2. Add the target device IMEI(s) and your application UID(s).
  3. Select the capabilities your app requires.
  4. Generate the CSR and private key.
  5. Upload the CSR to the Symbian Signed portal to obtain the developer certificate (.cer).
  6. Use the certificate and key to sign your SIS package for installation and testing on devices.

Notes:

  • Intended for use with the Symbian Signed ecosystem and Symbian SDK toolchain.
  • Requires a Windows PC and internet access to complete certificate issuance via the Symbian Signed portal.

Developer Certificate Request is developed by Symbian Software Ltd. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 2.1 and 2.3. The name of the program executable file is DevCertRequest.exe.
